Meeting them in person was a highlight of my time at OnStage!

Global Stamping Friends – Blog Hop #3 – Festive Projects

Posted on

Welcome to the Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop!  Our theme for this Hop is Festive Projects!

I absolutely love the cherry cobbler and garden green mix in the This Christmas Specialty designer series paper from the annual catalog.  There’s something about the vanilla that just gives the Christmas feel a little charm and a more rustic look. And the best part about it, is that it has 24 sheets instead of the regular 12 so that you can make twice as many cards!  It’s perfect for all those Christmas cards for your friends and family.  Here’s one that we did at a recent Stamp Camp. I think it looks so vintage.

For our festive theme for this month’s blog hop, I decided to make a box of tags using that same dsp (designer series paper). I found the adorable box idea on Kathleen’s blog at My Happy Stamping Place. She has a YouTube video and all the measurements are on her blog. Her explanation is so easy to follow.

I used the stamp set Tin of Tags throughout the whole project.  I love this stamp set.  I did buy the Tin of Tags kit, but this Tin of Tags stamp set is definitely one I would have bought on its own.  It is perfect for all the tiny Christmas wishes that need to be said. I love the way the box opens up!

I made 12 tags, 4 each of 3 colors that fit perfectly inside.  The measurements for the cards are 2 3/4″ x 5 1/2″ and then fold in half at 2 3/4″.  The dsp is 2 5/8″ x 2 5/8″.  The circles I used were a 1 3/4″ and the circle mat is 2″.

Here’s a closer picture of the tags.  I love them!

The box is big enough inside to put a gift card and some candy too!  I think it would be a perfect gift box to dress up an otherwise simple gift.

I have two of these boxes made and we will be giving one away as our door prize this Saturday night, November 5th, at our stamp camp!  Go to our BFF Stampers facebook event page and come join us on Saturday.  RSVP so I know to bring you a kit.  The cost is $20 to make these cards:

Hop on to see what the rest of our team did this month for their festive projects!  Come back soon!

Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop #2

Well now that World Card Making Day is over, BFF Stampers is joining the Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop!  Today’s Hop is a Color Challenge featuring 5 beautiful Stampin’ Up! colors.

Color Challenge Colors

Color Challenge Colors

Aren’t these a wonderful mix of colors?  We could also use Very Vanilla, Whisper White and Basic Black as our neutrals.

A color challenge is great for Lisa because she has a difficult time mixing colors.  She chose to create a traditional scrapbook page layout for today’s Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop.  Using all of the colors, except Cajun Craze, she created a beautiful “Love” page.  She utilized the Stampin’ Up! card stock to show case the colors Cucumber Crush, Delightful Dijon, Real Red and Early Espresso.  By adding a little splash of ink in the background with the  Gorgeous Grunge stamp set, it added just a bit of texture.

At least 3 of these colors reminded me of fall so I went ahead and made up some Thanksgiving themed items for our dinner table.  The first item was made using the Clear Tiny Treat Boxes.  They are so tiny and so cute!  I thought they would make a great place card/favor box for a Thanksgiving dinner.  I put trail mix in it but you could put candy corn or reese’s pieces or anything really.  The band just slides off the box so you can get into your goodies and then close it back up again.

I decorated it using the Vintage Leaves Stamp Set and Leaflets Framelits Dies.  I left the Delightful Dijon leaf without a stamped image so I could write my name for the place card.  The tiny open leaf is from the Flourishing Thinlits.

I love the little copper pinecone.  Just a great addition to the leaves.

Then I made a utensil holder using the Mini Treat Bag thinlit die.  I wrapped it with a piece of embossed Very Vanilla Cardstock.  I embossed it with the Woodland embossing folder and then sponged it with Early Espresso to really pop out those tree trunks.  The greeting is from a stamp set for the Holiday Catalog called Paisleys & Posies.

I did not have a punch or die that fit my greeting and fit nicely onto my utensil holder so I used a trick I learned to use your labels and get them to fit.  If you trim your paper to fit into the die exactly, you can put one side under and cut only that one side.  Then take out the paper and do the opposite side.  It’s a little confusing but hopefully the pictures will help.  I love this technique and use it often now.

I looped some copper wire behind the sentiment.  Here’s a picture of how we do it.  I’m glad I learned it this way because before, it was just a tangled mess and I didn’t like the look.

I hope you enjoyed this project and can get some use out of it.  Those clear tiny treat boxes really are uber adorable!  They are in the annual catalog.  What a nice matching set for the dinner table.  We always eat at my sister in law’s house so maybe I’ll surprise her this year 🙂

Happy Stamping,

Fall Wreath using Posies & Paisleys DSP

Posted on

This week I spent some time making a Fall Wreath.  I have seen this type of paper crafted wreath made for Halloween and Christmas.  I wanted one for FALL!  I love the Petals & Paisleys DSP from Stampin’ Up!  It reminds me of the old Spice Cake DSP from 3 or 4 years ago.  It just screams FALL!!!  In my opinion!

Look at the rich colors of Delightful Dijon, Cajon Craze, and Mint Macaroon.

Look at the rich colors of Delightful Dijon, Cajun Craze, and Mint Macaron.

So here is my interpretation of the wreath – made just for FALL!

Loving these Fall colors.

Loving these Fall colors.

I started with a simple 12 inch green floral foam circle.  Each of the strips of paper is 1 inch x 12 inches.  One thing I did learn – use the Triple Banner Punch and punch the flagged ends BEFORE wrapping it around the foam circle.  I had some trouble getting my paper strips to stick to the foam.  I ended up using small brads on the inside of the wreath to hold my strips in place.  I suggest when sticking the strips of paper around the foam, make sure to put adhesive all the way down the strip of paper.  Also, Watch how your wrap the paper to ensure your patter looks right side up.  I used the new Copper Foil to cut out the FALL letters (Large Letter Thinlits), and I used the Leaflit Thinlits to cut out the fall leaves.  Finally I stamped  the Scarecrow from the new Halloween Cookie Cutter set and embossed him in the new Copper embossing powder.

And there you have it – my FALL Wreath!  If you want to try making your own FALL Wreath below is the list of products from Stampin’ Up! that I used.  Thanks for looking!  Lisa

Tin of Tags Project Kit by Stampin’ Up!

I hope you had a wonderful three day weekend. I finally got a date with my hubby that was long overdue. We went to go see the new DC comic movie, Suicide Squad and we loved it! We are definitely a Marvel family but we really do like any superhero movies, villians or good guys.

Now onto my very first love, papercrafting (lol!). I love this new Christmas tag kit that was released in the new Holiday Catalog on September 1st. It is so easy to put together and it’s adorable! I also think this tiny tin is just something I can not live without! The Tin of Tags stamp set that you purchase to coordinate with the kit has the perfect font. I would have bought this stamp set whether it went together or not. It has all the most perfect sayings for Christmas tags.

One thing I really like about our kits is that Stampin’ Up! provides YouTube videos of how to put the kits together along with the instructions that comes in the kit. So whether you are a visual learner or can just follow directions on paper, this will be easy as pie! Pumpkin pie? Is it time yet!?

Here is the video from Stampin’ Up! to show you how easy these tags are to put together.

Click here if you’d like to purchase the Tin of Tags Kit and here for the stamp set.  We will be hosting a Tag Class on Tuesday, October 23rd, so if you’d like to come use our inks and stamp set, then RSVP on our FB page and click under events.  The cost for the event will be $26.  That will include the Tin of Tags Kit with tax and shipping.  We will provide the ink, Tin of Tags Stamp Set, and the adhesive you will need.  If you’d like to own your own stamp set, the cost will be $51, which will include your Tin of Tags Kit, your own Tin of Tags Stamp Set with tax and shipping.  You will have access to our ink and adhesive.

Hope you can make it!  Happy Stamping!

Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop

Hi friends and welcome to the very first Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop. The new Holiday Catalog went live yesterday and we are so excited that you can now order all the fun stuff for yourself that you’ve seen us playing with this month!!

The focus on this month’s blog hop is a twist on a holiday item from the new catalog. And one of the stamps sets from the new catalog is ‘Cookie-Cutter Christmas’.  We chose this set to work with because it’s so cute and you can do so many things with the characters. My twisted take on this is using the teddy bear for a baby card.

Isn’t it extra fun as a shaker card?  The bonus with this set is that you can buy it as a bundle with a punch!  That makes it so much easier to get all those cards made for any occasion you can think of.  Challenge yourself to make something non-holiday and link it below in the comments.  I’d love to see what you come up with using this set.

Thanks for joining us today. If you started with me then you can hit the previous button and go back to Kristie Neal Walthall or go to the next blog and see Marieke Bart.  Happy Hopping!
